Research in CHD Care is Improving Outcomes

Why do some children with CHD do better than others? Research is painting a better picture, but now we need to consider what can be changed to improve outcomes.
Let’s take a closer look at the more complex cases and compare them to other patient experiences to understand the vulnerabilities of Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQOL).
In a study published by the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the World Federation of Pediatric Intensive and Critical Care Societies, surgery, and ICU data from 572 CHD patients were collected. Study contributors determined a few factors can explain a low-to-moderate amount of variation in HRQOL, but other factors need to be considered.
